hello
What's the Chari-tea?
was founded in summer 2025 with one simple purpose – to be THE community for ALL nonprofit people.
What's the Chari-tea? is now a growing, with a podcast (also called What's the Chari-tea?), online and in-person events, toolkits and our very own line of merchandise. We provide a safe, inclusive and supportive space for nonprofit employees, volunteers, trustees, or anyone that wants to know more about the third sector.
As well as our Instagram-based community, you can also connect with us on Linkedin and Substack.

about our founder,
Louise Dawtry
After a decade of working in the UK nonprofit sector (social housing, charities, education) as a People and Culture Lead, and volunteering for King's Trust and Smart Works, as well as joining the Board of Trustees at Staying Put, Louise found herself searching for similar like-minded people. A community of other nonprofit people that could share in the pride for their purpose-led work, and also support one another with the challenges of the sector. After looking for something that didn't exist, Louise decided to create it herself.
Having worked at Leeds Mind as a People & Culture Lead, Louise now advocates for the nonprofit sector and the wonderful people within it. She has written for various publications and you can read some of her work HERE.
Louise also hosts the What's the Chari-tea? Podcast where she spills the tea on nonprofit life with inspirational frontline workers, leaders and volunteers from the sector. You can listen to the podcast HERE. As well as the podcast, Louise has also appeared on panels for Charity Comms event and is available for speaking events to promote nonprofit careers and volunteering, as well as inspiring others to become aware of their own wellbeing needs to help prevent burnout.
Louise regularly works with brands both in and out of the nonprofit sector including global volunteering management giant, Rosterfy.
