THE PODCAST IS SPILLING THE TEA ON WHAT IT’S REALLY LIKE IN THE THIRD SECTOR…

Our podcast, hosted by our Founder Louise Dawtry, offers a platform for real people to have real conversations about the highs and lows of working in the third sector. Our guests have ranged from volunteers to charity professionals, as well as medical and career experts. These honest discussions help guide you through purpose-led work, burnout, boundaries, leadership and the emotional realities of the charity and social impact sector.
Each episode pours a fresh, honest take on what it really looks like to build a career or organisation rooted in purpose without losing yourself in the process.
OUR GUESTS

ELESHEA WILLIAMS
The Social Media Specialist at Amnesty International, LinkedIn Top Voice, Speaker and thought leader on social media marketing. I was delighted to have her join me (all the way from Surrey!) on the What’s the Chari-tea? sofa to talk all things nonprofit life. We talk about how Eleshea harnessed a passion for education and social justice into a career within the charity sector, as well as how nonprofit organisations can manage their brand both effectively and sensitively. As always we reflect on our own wellbeing and share thoughts on how to balance intense work with self-care.

DR CLAIRE ASHLEY
A GP, burnout specialist and author of ‘The Burnout Doctor’. I was so grateful to have her join me on this episode of the What’s the Chari-tea? Podcast to help us cut through all the noise around the term burnout and understand what burnout is, how we can prevent it and what we need to recover from it.

STEFANIE SWORD-WILLIAMS
The author of ‘F*ck Being Humble’ and ‘Career Comedown’, and professional development speaker. As well as all this she founded a community support group called, This Might Help, offering support to those caring for people with mental health difficulties.
I was delighted to have Stef on the show and discuss her experiences, insights and thought leadership that we in the nonprofit sector can utilise in our work. We talk about the importance of asking for help, the difference between capacity and capability, why creativity is one of the greatest skills we need, and what to do when your career no longer serves you.

LOUISE SLEIGHTHOLM
A Chartered Accountant by day, and the Wonder Woman by night! Not only does Lou have over 300k followers on her Instagram and TikTok channels for @louscorporatelife, but she also Volunteers for SmartWorks Leeds and runs a social enterprise, Leeds Young Professionals. She opens up about her love of nonprofit life, her reasons for wanting to volunteer and how she came to co-found LYP.
If you've ever wondered what it's like to volunteer and how to make it work for you, and how to organise events on a shoestring budget whilst juggling social media content, then this is the episode for you!

LUKE BARROW
The founder of men's mental health and suicide prevention charity, Two Pints Deep. After losing his mum at the age of 19, Luke’s own mental health suffered through this bereavement and it was this experience that inspired him to set up a space for the average man to learn how to get the mental health support they need when they need it.

WHY DID WE CREATE A PODCAST?
Because the nonprofit and social impact sector is full of incredible people who rarely get the spotlight…and we’re here to change that.
Hosted by our Founder, Louise Dawtry, What’s the Chari-tea? is a leading nonprofit and social impact Top 3 Apple Chart podcast for people who give a damn - about purpose, about impact and meaningful work. Each episode pours a fresh, honest take on what it really looks like to build a career or organisation rooted in purpose without losing yourself in the process.
We talk to the people doing the work: the frontline workers, the leaders, the volunteers, the change-makers, the ones trying to make the world better while juggling the realities of life, burnout, boundaries, and everything in between.
Expect real conversations about purpose-led work - the messy bits, the meaningful bits, and the moments that change everything, as well as fresh perspectives on what purpose-led work really looks like today. Through our open and honest chats, this is your reminder that you’re not alone.
